Böde was brought up in a family of rowers and has been rowing since childhood. His uncle was an Olympic medalist winning bronze medals at the Melboure Olympics in 1956 and the Rome Olympics in 1960. Rowing has played a huge role in Böde´s life – in olympic class boats, wooden boats and on indoor rowing machines! He has been working as an indoor rowing classes instructor since 2004. Böde was also chairman of the board of Takon soutajat rowing club for many years.
