Wooden boat rowing is an important part of Takon soutajat rowing club with many members actively involved in small boat and long boat rowing. In both 2015 and 2016 the club came first in the Finnish National Wooden Boat League. Members are encouraged to take part in competitions but they may also row purely for pleasure. See also Pirkansoutu and Vikingsoutu for information on these local rowing events.

Takon soutajat members can use the club´s  ”yksikkö” (one person boat) and two ”kaksikkos” (two person boats). The club also has storage space for members´ own small boats.  The club also owns several 14-seater long boats (”kirkkovene” in Finnish) with a regular training schedule during the summer. There are men´s women´s and mixed teams. It is possible to join in a training session for long boat rowing to try it out before joining the club. It is also possible to rent long boats from Takon soutajat.

Off season, the club arranges indoor training sessions at the club house and members may use the facilities on their own.
